Clinical Post Graduate PA Program Standards Available for Comment

The accreditation standards for clinical post graduate PA programs are now available for review and comment. These standards represent many months of discussion and effort by a subcommittee of the ARC-PA, with input from the Association of Post Graduate Physician Assistant Programs. Patterned in part after the Standards used for entry level PA programs, the components of these standards are focused on the processes and outcomes of clinical post graduate PA programs.

Those submitting comments about the standards to the ARC-PA for its consideration should do so via email to postgradstandards@arc-pa.org. This email mailbox is only for comments on the standards and will generate an automatic response to the sender acknowledging receipt.

It is important that comments be made by referring to either a section of the standards, such as preface or introduction, or to a specific standard by alpha and numeric reference, such as A2.01. References to page numbers should not be used.

Comments will be accepted until January 12, 2007.

A copy of the standards is available in pdf format on the ARC-PA web site at

It is projected that site visits to clinical post graduate PA programs will be scheduled to begin in June, 2007 with the first programs to be considered for accreditation at the September, 2007 ARC-PA meeting.
