"The PA Profession is based on the medical model of broad, generalist education provided by entry-level PA Programs. With this core training, PAs may be successfully integrated into any medical or surgical specialty with adequate on-the-job training and appropriate MD supervision. Post-graduate PA Residency Training Programs are voluntary. APPAP is opposed to mandates by state boards, hospitals and other employers to require postgraduate clinical training for obtaining hospital privileges or employment."
